Sicilia, flussi positivi solo per Palermo e Catania

💰 Vittorio Messina, president of Confesercenti Sicilia and Assoturismo, reported that Sicily saw a 20% dip in tourist flow during the holiday season compared to 2023-2024, with some cities like Agrigento experiencing up to a 25% decline. Nevertheless, Palermo and Catania recorded a positive 5% increase in arrivals. Italian, French, and German tourist numbers fell by 3%, while Spanish and American visitors increased. Sicilian airports were fully booked, thanks to government flight discounts over the holidays. Final numbers are expected by the end of January.

Cathay Pacific, torna a giugno il Roma-Hong Kong

✈️ Cathay Pacific resumes direct flights between Hong Kong and Rome Fiumicino from June 5, 2025. The seasonal summer service will run thrice weekly, adding to the five weekly flights from Milan Malpensa, which will increase to daily from March 30, 2025. Coinciding with Rome's 2025 Jubilee year, Cathay Pacific's return marks nearly 40 years since its first direct flights in 1986. The flights will use the Airbus A350-900. Six new cities, including Hyderabad in March, Dallas in April, Munich in June, and Brussels in August, will join Cathay Pacific's network by 2025, along with HK Express launching flights to Sendai in January, targeting 100 global destinations by 2025.

Ita Airways-Lufthansa, c’è la data per il closing: la firma il 13 gennaio

✈ Lufthansa is set to acquire 41% of Ita Airways with a closing date for the deal announced for Monday, January 13. The agreement, which involves a capital increase of 325 million euros, comes after tumultuous events since Ita Airways began operations on October 15, 2021. The board will consist of 5 members, 3 from the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (holding 59%) and 2 from Lufthansa. Jorg Eberhart is the speculated front-runner for CEO position. The EU Antitrust clearance was required before finalizing the date.

From December 23 to January 6, there were 250,597 first entries, up from 187,075 last season. Piancavallo saw a 61.3% rise in visitors, while Tarvisio led with 85,581, a 49% increase from 2023/24. Visitors came from Veneto, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

🏕 Iberostar Hotel & Resorts launches two new properties in Miami: Iberostar Waves Berkeley Shore and Iberostar Waves Miami Beach, focusing on energy efficiency and sustainable practices.
