Giovani lievitisti a confronto: a Bologna per la migliore Colomba Artigianale

🏦 The "Giovani Lievitisti a Confronto" championship finale, featuring Italy's top under-33 baking talents, will be held on April 8 at 10 am at the International School of Bologna. Ten finalist teams from regions including Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Lombardia, Marche, Piemonte, Puglia, and Toscana will compete in three categories: Traditional, Chocolate, and Innovative Artisanal Colomba. Winners will be announced at 4 pm by judges Antonio Angora, Alessandro Bertuzzi, Gianluca Casadei, Alessio Formichetti, Giuseppe Mancini, and Paolo Rufo. Unsampled Colombe will be donated to orphans or Caritas.

Specialty Coffee in primo piano: la SCA Arena conquista HORECA Expoforum

🍵 At the SCA Arena during the HORECA Expoforum in Turin, participants competed in Coffee Triathlon and Latte Art Throwdown. Andrea Gatti won the Coffee Triathlon and will travel to an official SCA Italy selection for upcoming championships. He also won Best Espresso, while Jean Ellaine Andal Silva won Best Filtro, and Fabrizio Abrescia won Best Signature Drink. Joy Parungao triumphed in Latte Art Throwdown, earning travel, board, and lodging for an official SCA Italy Latte Art selection. Matteo Ripoli, the runner-up, gained direct access to an official selection. Speakers at the event covered topics such as sustainability, the role of SCA, and coffee applications in mixology. The Villaggio Roasters featured seven micro-roasteries, showcasing specialty coffee in Italy. The next stops of the format and selections leading up to the 2026 Italian Barista Championships will be announced soon.

Nasce Hampden 1753, il rum che incarna tre secoli di tradizione artigianale

🍸 Hampden Estate, founded in 1753, is renowned for its high-quality rum and has launched "Hampden 1753," a new distillate from Trelawny, Jamaica. The rum is made using traditional methods, including spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and distillation in six copper pot stills, one from 1960. Hampden 1753 undergoes tropical aging for 3 years in ex-Bourbon barrels and is bottled at 46% ABV, without added sugars or colorants. The distillery has over 6500 barrels stored in three warehouses, with the first 80% full, the second at 60%, and a third smaller warehouse being implemented. Hampden started bottling Single Rum in 2018, in collaboration with Velier, and has a treasure of exceptional ex-sherry casks among its inventory.

🌊 On World Water Day 2025, Sanpellegrino, a leader in mineral water and non-alcoholic beverages, reiterates its commitment to protecting water as a vital resource. The company has saved over 337.7 million liters of water in the past 7 years, equivalent to the contents of 135 Olympic swimming pools. Their work includes a nearly two-decade-long effort on glacier research and monitoring, partnering with the University of Milan and initiating the New Catalogue of Italian Glaciers in 2015, covering 903 glaciers in Italy. Sanpellegrino has AWS-certified facilities in Cepina Valdisotto (SO), San Pellegrino Terme (BG), and Scarperia (FI), ensuring sustainable water management. Additionally, they aided in the recovery of 140 hectares of forest damaged by the 2018 Vaia storm, increasing groundwater recharge capacity.

A selection of 27 aromatic herbs and DOCG Piedmontese wines, including Erbaluce di Caluso and M.P.F. from Moscato grapes, defines its superior Torino status. The product range includes three Vermouth Riserva (Red, White, Extra Dry) and two mixology products. Riserva White won a gold medal at the 2020 World Vermouth Awards. Vermouth Carlo Alberto Red and White are both available in 1L bottles, suitable for high-end cocktails.
