🏖️ Italy's nautical tourism continues to grow post-Covid era, expecting a 10% increase in business turnover for 2024, largely due to the number of weeks sold. 🏆 In the first half of 2024, Dubai International Airport reached a record milestone with 44.9 million transit passengers. The airport is recovering post-pandemic, aiming to surpass the 89.1 million passenger mark of 2018. According to Paul Griffiths, CEO, there's a positive outlook for year-end 2024 with an estimated 91.8 million passengers expected by December.

🌱 Italian agritourisms experienced a downturn during the summer season, with over 55% of facilities seeing less foot traffic than in previous years. Only 20% reported consistent figures with past seasons. The most sought-after regions were Puglia, Tuscany, and Calabria. Italian guests accounted for about 48%, with the remainder coming mainly from Central and Northern Europe, including Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Poland, Belarus, Austria, France, and the Netherlands, as well as long-distance locations like Israel, the USA, Canada, and Australia. Investments are being made to enhance service quality and quantity, with a focus on experiential tourism and cycling tourism, supported by a partnership with the Italian Cycling Federation.

🏆 Fiumicino Airport's passenger traffic increased by 27% in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year, as reported by Assaeroporti. With 40 million passengers in 2023, the airport aims to reach 90 million annual passengers by 2046. The partnership between Ita Airways and Lufthansa is expected to boost this growth. Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, sees further improvements in traffic quality and potential expansion in Africa, South America, the Middle East, Central Europe, and Asia.

🖨 Sociometrica's annual report reveals Rome generated about 10% of Italy's tourism wealth, with a business turnover of approximately 8.5 billion euros in 2023. Milan followed with 3.6 billion euros, then Venice and Florence with 3.3 and 2.7 billion euros, respectively. From 2014 to 2022, Rome saw the most significant growth at +23.3%, while Florence and Rimini declined.

🛫 Enav's CEO Pasqualino Monti reported a traffic increase over 20% in Italy's first semester of 2024, with 1.15 million flights managed in the first 7 months, a 10.2% rise from 2023. Italy noted the highest European growth rate with an 18% increase in international arrivals and departures. By the end of August, tourist arrivals in Calabria are expected to increase by 4% compared to last year, potentially boosted by more low-cost airline flights to the region's three airports. The unique combination of sea, mountains, and culture is particularly attractive to young travelers. However, concerns arise with inflation rates in the tourism sector rising by 3.6% annually and 1.2% monthly.

🏨 Marriott International's CEO Tony Capuano reveals a downturn in Chinese tourism post-Covid, with China's mainland RevPAR (revenue per available room) falling about 4 percentage points last quarter. China, being Marriott's second-largest market, prompts a 3-4 percentage point downward revision in annual RevPAR forecast, mainly due to mainland China's weaknesses.
