🏖️; Global tourism over the last 30 years has doubled, with France receiving over 60 million tourists in 1995 and nearly 100 million by 2023, maintaining first place. The top five destinations, including the United States, Spain, Italy, and China, remain fairly stable. Turkey rose from 14th place in 1995 to 6th, with Germany moving from 11th to 8th. Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and the Netherlands entered the top 15, displacing Switzerland and Poland. In 1995, Germany led tourism investments with nearly $65 billion, followed by the US and Japan, while Italy invested $33 billion and dropped a position, overtaken by Canada.

Torino Airport, Andorno: “Istanbul è hub strategico”

✈️ Andrea Andorno, CEO of Torino Airport, announced the daily flight from Torino to Istanbul starting July 10, operated by Turkish Airlines. This new connection links Piemontese passengers and businesses to 348 destinations offered by the airline. In the first half of 2024, Torino Airport saw 2.27 million passengers, a 1.6% increase from the same period in 2023. The airport hit a record high in 2023 with 4.5 million passengers.

Ca’ Foscari e SIO, prime lauree in Hospitality Innovation and e-Tourism

🏥 In 2021, Ca' Foscari launched the Triennial Course in Hospitality Innovation and e-Tourism in collaboration with the Italian School of Hospitality, and by 2024, 14 students graduated. The English-taught program merges managerial skills with digital transformation and sustainability in tourism, featuring stages and workshops. The graduates specialized in tourism 4.0, including social media marketing and eco-sustainable tourism offerings. They are bilingual, have a third language at B1 level, and completed 3 corporate internships. Over 50 companies have partnered for these internships, endorsing the program and expressing interest in providing career opportunities to the graduates.

Federculture: crescono spesa, occupazione e gli investimenti nel settore culturale

🎭 In Italy, the cultural sector in 2023 witnessed a recovery post-Covid with families’ spending on culture, recreation, and sports up by 10% to €101.27 monthly. Attendance at cultural activities increased notably: concerts nearly doubled to 21.7%, theater up by 63%, classical concerts by 50%, museum visits by 44%, and archeological sites by 43%. Employment in culture reached pre-pandemic levels with 825,000 jobs, a 1.2% increase from 2022. Tourism, especially cultural, grew by 34.5%, with expenditure over 40%. Investing in culture remained positive, with the Ministry of Culture budget just under €4 billion, and regions and municipalities exceeding €1 billion and €2.3 billion respectively. Despite overall growth, cultural participation and spending are significantly higher in Northern and Central-Northern Italy than in the South.

Cirium reports that Islandair was the most punctual airline with 84.08% of flights on time, followed by Iberia Express at 82.50% and Iberia at 77.69%. Globally, Saudia led with 88.22% punctuality, outperforming Aeromexico and Latam Airlines. No UK carriers made the top 10. Data covers 30% of major European carriers by passenger capacity.
