🌱 Casa Optima, an Italian artisan gelato and high-quality pastry leader, released its first Sustainability Report for 2021-2023, detailing achievements and future strategies aligned with the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In 2023, the company, with markets in over 150 countries, 5 production facilities (3 in Italy, 1 in Brazil, and 1 in France), serving 30,000+ customers and employing 1000+ staff, reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 45% compared to 2021 and achieved a 7% reduction in waste normalized on produced kg from 2022 with 99% of waste being recycled. Energy consumption also dropped by 7% per produced kg. Approximately 20,000 tonnes of raw materials were sourced in 2023, 98% from the EU, with 2/3 from Italy. The company dedicated 20.4 hours to employee training on average in 2023, made 31 permanent hires, and confirmed 11 out of 20 internships. Casa Optima aims for carbon neutrality by 2030, with a 5% annual reduction in energy consumption, 75% of its fleet to be electric or hybrid, and planting 5,500 trees by 2025 to absorb an estimated 1500 tonnes of CO₂ over ten years.
