METRO Italia pubblica la prima Politica sul benessere dei pesci da allevamento in Italia

💰 METRO Italia, a wholesale leader for the Horeca sector, has launched Italy's first "Policy on the Welfare of Farmed Fish" in collaboration with Essere Animali, setting specific parameters to improve living conditions for aquatic animals such as seabreams, gilthead sea breams, and fresh farmed salmon under the "METRO Chef" brand. The policy adheres to WOAH guidelines and EFSA scientific opinions, ensuring effective stunning and reduced stocking density (≤ 15 kg/m³) in the supply chain. METRO Italia employs 3,800 staff, operates in 16 regions with 47 stores, and in FY 2023/2024 generated €2 billion in sales. Globally, METRO operates in over 30 countries, with 85,000 employees and 15 million customers, achieving €31 billion turnover in FY 2023/24.

Giamaica di lusso, al via il progetto Pinnacle

🏖️ Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica's Minister of Tourism, announced a new luxury tourism era for Jamaica with a $450 million investment in the Pinnacle project, in partnership with Ennismore and Accor. Pinnacle, located on Reading Peninsula in Montego Bay, includes 417 luxury residences, 12 private villas, and a 240-room luxury hotel. Construction of the first two towers is underway, incorporating eco-sustainable features like solar energy and rainwater harvesting. Jamaica has over 3 million visitors, matching the island's population and creating a critical mass for economic impact across sectors like agriculture, transportation, and housing.

Acqua filtrata per l'Horeca: Culligan protagonista a Tuttofood 2025

💧 Global water filtration leader Culligan presents its Hoeca sector products and services at Tuttofood (stand D55 - hall 14) in Milan from May 5-8. Champion flair bartender Giorgio Facchinetti will demonstrate the importance of quality water in mixology. Italian consumer awareness of filtered water's quality and safety is nearly 100%, much higher than the European average of 70%. In Italy, 15% are regular and 40% are occasional filtered water consumers in restaurants, compared to under 10% and around 15% respectively in other European countries. Culligan Italy, with a team of over 1,000, achieved a 10% increase in turnover in 2023, reaching €220 million. Culligan International reported a $3.1 billion turnover in 2023, with an average annual growth of 30% from 2016 to 2023, serving over 155 million consumers annually, reducing plastic bottle use by 40 billion and CO2 emissions by over 5 billion kg. ????

🍺 Carlsberg Italia, at Birrificio Angelo Poretti, hosted a talk on the National Made in Italy Day to discuss and chart a new course for the beer supply chain and Italian agri-food system. Olivier Dubost, MD of Carlsberg Italia, highlighted their contribution: over 6,000 jobs created in Italy in the last year, with each Carlsberg Italia employee generating an estimated 35 jobs across the value chain. The event discussed the importance of agriculture, responsible for 11% of EU greenhouse gas emissions and over 20% of Carlsberg Group's emissions. Carlsberg Group is promoting regenerative agriculture to enhance soil health and biodiversity. Anette Christiansen from the Danish Council for Agriculture noted that 61% of Denmark's land is used for agriculture, with 11% being organic. Christian Garavaglia revealed that 21% of beer consumers are willing to pay up to 10% more for organic products. Carlsberg Italia's new sustainability goal is to source 30% of raw materials from regenerative practices by 2030, aiming for 100% by 2040.

Ichnusa's awareness campaign "Se deve finire così, non beveteci nemmeno" enters its second year, aiming to discourage potential consumers from littering. The campaign's impact is substantial with 76% recall among Italians, and 87% reporting increased reflection on environmental respect. Bord Bia porta a TUTTOFOOD l'eccellenza irlandese: focus sul manzo IGP allevato al pascolo

🍾 Bord Bia, the Irish Food Board, will showcase at TUTTOFOOD 2025 (Pavilion 5, Stand F25) highlighting Irish food excellence, especially Irish Grass Fed Beef now with PGI status. Francesca Perfetto, Market Specialist for Bord Bia, emphasized the quality marking Irish agri-food production. Ireland's food and beverage sector exports surpassed €465 million in 2024, with Italy being a key market. The Bord Bia Quality Assured Beef follows the SBLAS (Sustainable Beef and Lamb Assurance Scheme) and is ISO 17065/2012 certified. Irish Grass Fed Beef has recently achieved EU PGI status, ensuring cattle are grass-fed for at least 90% of their diet and graze outdoors for a minimum of 220 days per year. This certification is linked to Ireland's Grass Fed Standard, initiated in 2020. Additionally, Irish organic beef is EU-certified, produced following organic agricultural practices. Origin Green is the world's only national food sustainability development program, involving over 77,000 farms and 300+ food and beverage companies, all committed to reducing carbon footprint and enhancing environmental performance. Ireland's exports in the food and beverage industry exceeded €17 billion in 2024, with beef exports to Italy valued at €233 million.

La Generazione Z guida la rivoluzione della birra sostenibile in Italia

Gen Z prioritizes eco-friendly packaging (43%) and workplace health (24%); Millennials favor clean energy (37%); Gen X focuses on soil protection (56%) and local, seasonal production (47%). 77% believe breweries adopting sustainable practices are credible, while 65% are unaware of the term "greenwashing," with Gen Z being the most informed (44%). Consumers are willing to spend up to 10% more for sustainable beer, with 27% of Gen Z ready to pay up to 20% more. Sustainable agriculture (42%) and eco-packaging (37%) drive purchase choices, with Gen X valuing the former at 50%. Social media (75%) outpaces TV (56%) as the top source for sustainable practice information.
