🏖️ Aiav unveiled a welfare plan with four insurance and financial tools at Rome's 'Turismo: una filiera chiamata Italia' conference, attended by Tourism Minister Daniela Santanché. The plan includes customizable professional liability insurance up to 2 million euros, a guarantee fund since 2018, free health coverage for administrators, collaborators, and families, and free legal protection up to 8,000 euros for legal expenses. Aiav introduced a zero-cost, instant B2B payment system by M-Facility with Intesa Sanpaolo, already used by Trenitalia.

Turkish Airlines inaugura al Narita la sua più grande lounge all’estero

🏨 Turkish Airlines opened its largest overseas lounge today at Narita International Airport, Japan. The lounge is in Terminal 1, South Wing, Satellite 4, Gate 47, and spans 800 square meters in phase one, with a capacity for 105 passengers. Open daily from 7:30 to 21:45, it's available to Miles&Smiles Elite Plus, Elite, Elite Corporate cardholders, Star Alliance Gold members, and Business Class travelers. This is Turkish Airlines' seventh international lounge and second in Asia, marking a step in its global expansion and enhancing travel experiences with a blend of Turkish hospitality and Japanese elegance.

Sciopero e incendio a Ciampino: disagi per chi deve volare

Ferrovia Retica promuove la tratta dell’Albula

🏤 Ferrovia Retica promotes the Albula railway line as an alternative to the crowded Bernina line, connecting Chur, Switzerland's oldest city, to St. Moritz. Starting June 2025, a new tourism offering, Landwasserwelt, will launch, featuring a train ride, museum, affiliate hotels and restaurants, farm visits, mountain lifts, and a rubber-tired train to view the Landwasser viaduct. The Albula line is increasingly popular with families and groups, offering more carriages than the Bernina due to gentler slopes.

Caramanna: “Lotta dura all’abusivismo”

🏖️ Gianluca Caramanna, spokesperson in the Productive Activities Commission and advisor to the Minister of Tourism, highlighted the importance of the travel industry to Italy's economy during the 'Tourism: a supply chain called Italy' conference organized by Aiav. He emphasized the past neglect and crucial role of travel agents, particularly during the pandemic when they provided greater support to travelers compared to those who booked independently. Caramanna stressed the need for combating unauthorized travel organization, the regulation of technical directors, and updating norms on travel packages to better protect travel agents, asserting the government's and Parliament's commitment to supporting tourism growth and recognizing the strategic role of travel professionals.

La summer Iberia Più voli su Roma per il Giubileo

✈ Iberia, starting 29 March, will offer six to seven daily flights to Rome due to the Jubilee Year. Summer operations resuming to Catania, Olbia, Cagliari, and Palermo with 2024 flight numbers. In Europe, four extra weekly flights to Paris for up to 11 daily flights. Brussels and Vienna will see up to four direct flights daily. Seasonal destinations return, including Ponta Delgada from 7 June with three weekly flights; Portugal's Lisbon (up to 36), Porto (up to 28), Funchal, and Faro (both up to five) per week. Albania's Tirana and Slovenia's Lubija resuming on 7 June and 27 July, respectively. Direct flights from Spain to Santorini, Mykonos (5-6 weekly), and Corfu (seven weekly by August). Athens route increasing to 30 weekly flights by August. Dubrovnik, Zagreb, and Split returning to Iberia's network with up to 17, 9, and 9 weekly flights, respectively. Long-haul routes to Latin America reaching record connectivity in 2025 with 3.2 million seats (4% increase from 2024) and 300 weekly flights.

Hotel in Spagna, code ai check-in e disservizi per la nuova legge sulla raccolta dei dati

💰 Spanish hotels are challenging the 'Marlaska law' which mandates the collection of additional customer data for registration, to be sent through a dedicated platform. The Majorca Hotel Business Federation is urging hotels to document issues on the government-provided tool for data uploading, as reports of malfunctions and poor service remain unaddressed. Hotels report the new system potentially hinders check-ins during certain night hours and has increased customer registration times. Some guests have expressed discomfort with the questions asked in the form.

Turismo, si conclude missione Santanchè in Arabia Saudita: “Importante aprirsi a nuovi mercati ricchi di potenzialità”

🏖️ Italian Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè concluded her mission to Saudi Arabia which began on January 27 with the inauguration of the Italian Village in Jeddah, marking the Amerigo Vespucci sailboat's first visit to Saudi Arabia in its 93-year history. In Riyadh, she met with Saudi counterpart Ahmed Al Khateeb, and in Jeddah, she participated in events focusing on inclusion and promoting Italian tourism, including the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics 2026. In 2023, over 200,000 Saudi travelers visited Italy, with 78% for personal reasons and 22% for business. The initiative aims to enhance diplomatic relations and attract more Saudi tourists to Italy.

Senior tourism is projected to generate $520 billion by 2030, growing at a 7% annual rate since 2020. Cruise lines anticipate accommodating 30 million senior passengers by 2030, necessitating expanded services and tailored experiences to meet the demands of this demographic.

📈 In 2024, travel demand surged by 10.4% compared to the previous year, with international traffic up 13.6% and domestic traffic increasing by 5.7%. Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), rose by 8.7%, with an 83.5% overall load factor, setting a new annual record. Despite this growth, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) accounted for less than 0.5% of fuel needs, highlighting the challenge of reducing costs and increasing supply to meet the airline industry's goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Looking ahead, travel demand in 2025 is projected to grow at a moderated pace of 8%.
