Uk, cosa è cambiato dalla Brexit

  • Tony Loeb
  • 28 Gennaio 2025
💰 Gran Bretagna exited the EU five years ago at the end of January. "The Brexit Files" report by 'Uk in a changing Europe' reveals mixed outcomes. Brexit is estimated to reduce long-term import and export volumes by 15%. The negative impact on GDP could exceed 5%, influenced by inflation and rising energy costs. The UK maintains strength in financial services but weakens in manufacturing, with a positive trend in service trade and a slight decline in goods trade. The UK's economy has declined compared to pre-Brexit and pre-pandemic levels, similar to other major European economies. However, IMF forecasts UK growth at 1.5% in 2025 and 1.6% in 2026, above the Eurozone and countries like Italy.

London Heathrow, sì all’espansione: la reazione Iata

  • Tony Loeb
  • 28 Gennaio 2025
🛫 British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves confirmed the expansion of Heathrow Airport with a third runway, despite environmentalist protests. The project, along with expansions at Luton and Gatwick, could increase the UK's GDP by 0.45% by 2050 and create over 100,000 jobs. The International Air Transport Association (Iata) expressed concerns about potential rises in already high airport fees in Europe. They advocate for immediate measures such as reducing air ticket taxes and offering incentives for sustainable aviation fuels.

Messina, Assoturismo: “Dobbiamo istituzionalizzare il turismo delle radici”

  • Tony Loeb
  • 28 Gennaio 2025
🌿 Italea, a project of Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched in 2024, aims to foster the return of Italian emigrants and their descendants, as part of the 2024 "Anno delle Radici Italiane nel Mondo" under the Pnrr project, backed by NextGenerationEU funding. In 2024, travelers of 'root tourism' spent approximately €5 billion, with expectations to reach €5.5 billion by 2026. Last year, arrivals for 'visiting the place of origin' exceeded 6.6 million, a 6.2% increase over early year predictions, generating about 34.4 million tourist stays. This form of tourism highlights areas often overlooked by mainstream Italian tourist routes, promoting sustainable tourism in regions affected by low growth and depopulation, from where 95% of Italian emigration originated.

Wizz Air rivede al ribasso le stime sull’utile

  • Tony Loeb
  • 28 Gennaio 2025
💸 Wizz Air, a low-cost airline, revised its net profit forecast downwards for the second time for the fiscal year ending March, now expecting between €250-300 million instead of the initially anticipated €350-450 million. High costs and unresolved Pratt & Whitney engine issues on its A321neo fleet, which grounded 20% of the planes, influenced the adjustment. Subsequently, Wizz Air's stock dropped 12 points on the London Stock Exchange after a third-quarter loss of €241.1 million compared to €105.4 million in the same period in 2023. CEO Jozsef Varadi remains optimistic about the company's growth capacity.
