IATA: il mercato aereo italiano nei prossimi 20 anni rischia il quinto posto in Europa per perdita di connettività
✈ Italian outbound air travel soared post-pandemic; in August 2024, passenger numbers peaked at 11.2 million, up 6.6% from August 2023, and 14.3% from August 2019. Italy outperformed main European competitors, with a 2.4% growth over 2023, and 5% since 2019. From January to August 2024, Italy ranked third in Europe with 70.2 million passengers, trailing Spain at 94.1 million, and the UK with just under 91 million. IATA predicts a 1.23% annual growth for Italian passengers from 2023 to 2043, forecasting Italy to hold the fifth position in Europe. The UK and Germany are expected to grow at 1.52% and over 2% respectively, while Spain's growth is estimated at 1.17%. By 2043, Italy's passenger numbers are projected to increase by 28%, yet connectivity issues persist; destinations reachable from Italy dropped from 1988 in 2019 to 1854 in 2023.
