📊 The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) reports a 27% increase in global travel and tourism companies setting climate goals over three years, with over half now actively engaged in emissions reduction. In the second edition of the Net Zero Roadmap, 53% of the top 250 companies have set clear climate targets, up from 42% in 2021. One-third of these companies aim for Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) goals, doubling the number since 2021. The travel sector accounted for 6.5% of global emissions in 2023, a decrease from 7.8% in 2019; this represents a 10.2% reduction in the sector's greenhouse gas intensity. The airline industry reduced carbon intensity by 6%, while cruise and lodging sectors decreased theirs by 11% since 2019.

🌊 Coastal and marine tourism protection from climate change effects estimated to cost $65 billion annually, reports the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) at Ocean Action Day, COP29 in Baku. Global direct emission reductions to cost around $30 billion, with $1.5 trillion in business generated in 2023, supporting 52 million jobs worldwide, accounting for 50% of all tourism spending and contributing 0.8% to global greenhouse gas emissions.

📦 Deliveroo launched an innovative platform for access to 100% recyclable packaging, including compostable products and those made from recycled paper, cardboard, or plastic. Active in France, Italy, and Belgium, the service isn't limited to Deliveroo partners. Since its UK inception in 2018, Deliveroo Packaging has distributed over 25 million units, saving 25,000 kg of plastic and cutting CO2 emissions by around 30,000 kg. Partnership with PackHelp ensures quality packaging, and in Italy, it reaches two-thirds of the population, covering over 1,800 municipalities.

Torna il Panettone Sospeso a Milano

🎂 From November 23 to December 22, 2024, the non-profit Associazione Panettone Sospeso ETS initiative in Milan allows people to donate a "suspended" panettone for the Casa dell'Accoglienza Enzo Jannacci and two Food Aid Hubs of the City of Milan. For each panettone left "in suspense," participating bakeries will add another, doubling the donation. The artist PAO is involved in promoting the initiative, turning street bollards into street art with QR codes leading to panettonesospeso.org for donations. Over five years, 7,000 panettoni have been collected and distributed, with remote donations possible through the website. Participating bakeries include Cake l'Hub, Cantun Bakery and Bistrot, and others.
