This initiative, stemming from the Meloni government, aims to boost the attractiveness of the tourism industry to workers by improving service conditions and competitiveness.

📍 Iata released data showing an 8.1% increase in total demand measured in passenger-kilometers (Rpk) in November 2024 compared to November 2023. Total capacity, measured in available seat-kilometers (Ask), rose by 5.7% year-on-year, with a load factor of 83.4%, up by 1.9 percentage points (ppt) from November 2023, marking a historic high for November. International demand surged by 11.6% from November 2023, with capacity up by 8.6% and a load factor of 83.4%, 2.3 ppt higher than the previous year. European and Asia-Pacific carriers led the double-digit demand expansion. Domestic demand grew by 3.1% from November 2023, with a 1.5% increase in capacity and a load factor of 83.5%, up 1.2 ppt. There is a 2.4 ppt lag in capacity growth compared to demand, suggesting airlines are missing opportunities due to delayed aircraft deliveries.

📃 According to the 2025 Henley Passport Index, Singapore ranks first, allowing visa-free access to 195 out of 227 countries. Japan follows with 193 countries, while Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Finland, and South Korea tie for third with 192 destinations. European nations dominate the fourth spot, with Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden enabling entry to 191 countries. Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, the UK, and New Zealand round out the top five with 190 countries. The US falls to ninth place, offering access to 186 destinations, a significant drop from its second-place rank in 2015. Afghanistan is at the bottom, as its passport allows visa-free travel to only 26 countries, followed by Syria and Iraq with 27 and 31 destinations, respectively. Passports from Yemen and Pakistan enable entry to 33 countries, and Somalia to 35.
