🏠 Milan's leisure tourism accounts for 65% of total visits, overtaking business tourism according to Martina Riva, the city's tourism official. The city recently added 10 new air routes, including to Asian and American destinations. In 2024, Milan will host two congresses with over 20,000 participants each, alongside an increasing number of major global sports events.

📍 Boscolo Tours expands Asian travel offerings with a 12-day itinerary "Il fascino della Thailandia" featuring 6 departure dates between October and February, including Christmas and New Year's. 🏖️ Falk Tours opened an office in Palermo, branded as Falk Tours Italy South, headed by Nino and Franco Caronia of Norma Vacanze. CEO Giovanni Cocco aims to position Falk Tours as a leading European destination management company, expanding into the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. Falk Tours Croatia is now in Zadar, managed with Boris Zgomba (CEO of Uniline). Falk Tours Poland has been established in Kolberg with Robert Zug. Falk Tours & Partner srl, based in Varna, Northern Italy, continues under the management of Andreas Arquin and Giovanni Cocco. Erich and Andreas Falkensteiner lead the board of Falk Tours AG, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland.

💥 Multiple acts of vandalism targeted three out of four high-speed train lines in Paris, disrupting connections to the Atlantic, North, and East, right before the Olympic Games opening ceremony. Sabotages occurred overnight, with the earliest reported at 5:15 AM between Lille and Paris. SNCF advises against traveling to stations and offers ticket exchanges and refunds. Paris expects 100,000 international passengers from July 24-27, a 33% increase over 2023. The disruptions may negatively impact revenues by €160-180 million.

🗺 In Santorini, Greece, tourist arrivals have doubled in 12 years, reaching 3.4 million in 2023, up from 1.7 million in 2012. Mayor Nikos Zorzos warns of over-tourism with the island's 15,500 population overwhelmed. Greece saw a record 32.7 million visitors last year. A daily cap of 8,000 cruise ship passengers is set to start next year. In 2023, 800 cruise ships brought nearly 1.3 million passengers to Santorini. Mayor suggests halting the addition of new accommodation.

🏖️ RAAYA By Atmosphere, a new five-star resort by Atmosphere Core, has just opened in the Raa Atoll, Maldives—increasing the group's exclusive properties in the archipelago to nine. The resort offers guided diving to explore the marine world. VARU by Atmosphere, another 5-star option in North Malé Atoll, provides daily snorkeling trips. The Atoll also houses the 5-star OBLU SELECT Sangeli, suitable for both couples and families, and the adults-only OBLU SELECTLogibili resort. OBLU NATURE Helengeli by SENTIDO, a 4-star property, recently received an award from PADI for contributing to women's diving. The resort reopened after a total renovation aimed at connecting guests with the environment. Atmosphere Core plans to launch a new resort in the Maldives, one in Sri Lanka, and ten hotels and resorts in India within the next three years.

🏕 MSC has added three new departure dates (October 29 and 30, November 7 and 8, November 16 and 17) for the MSC Splendida cruise due to high demand, sailing from Trieste and Bari to Greece and Turkey. Vice President Leonardo Massa acknowledges this caters to travelers preferring quieter vacation periods with milder temperatures. The itinerary includes stops at the Greek port of Piraeus for Acropolis tours, Kusadasi in Turkey, Istanbul, and Corfu, returning to Trieste and Bari. Starting November 16, MSC Sinfonia will also offer weekly 7-night cruises from Bari to Athens, Izmir, Istanbul, Corfu, and back to Bari.

🏨 The Portuguese airports saw a 5.1% increase to 26.17 million passengers from January to May compared to the same period in 2023. Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport led with a 5.6% rise, handling 13.6 million passengers, 56.6% of the country's total traffic growth. Porto's Sá Carneiro Airport grew by 316,000 passengers (5.6%), representing 24.7% of the national increase, reaching 5.97 million travelers. Faro contributed with a 2.6% increase, adding 81,000 passengers, totaling 3.15 million, and accounting for 6.4% of the total growth.
