Novità dai principali mercati: caffè, seme di girasole e arachidi

  • Redazione
  • 13 Settembre 2024
🍭 The ICE market recorded a +4% increase for Robusta coffee and +3% for Arabica between July and August, reaching +80% and +57% year-on-year respectively. The primary price driver is weather impact uncertainty on Brazil and Vietnam's crops, with Brazil's Minas Gerais drought causing concern for the 2024/25 harvest. Sunflower seed prices rose +14% in early campaign to 422.5 €/t, reflecting a -5% EU, -19% Ukraine, and -6% Russia production drop due to drought, potentially leading to a -10% global sunflower oil supply decrease for 2024/25. U.S. peanut prices fell -18%, reaching the lowest level since June 2022, and -26% since the beginning of the year, despite the forecast of a +14% production increase to over 3 million tons for 2024/25. Argentina's peanut market saw a -3% decline mid-August and -21% since January 2024 highs, with record 2024 harvest estimates of 1.5 million tons, a +56% increase from the previous campaign.

Secondo Mondelēz i prezzi del cacao continueranno a scendere

  • Tony Loeb
  • 11 Settembre 2024
🍫 Mondelēz International noticed stabilization in cocoa prices despite a recent cost increase and a production decrease in Ghana, the world's second-largest cocoa producer. At the Barclays Global Consumer Staples Conference on September 4, CEO Dirk Van de Put and CFO Luca Zaramella reported a cocoa price decrease from recent highs. A "rather good" African cocoa harvest is expected this year, possibly improving by 20-25% over the last year, with confirmation pending in the coming weeks. If this stabilization persists, significant cost reductions could be reflected in Mondelēz International's third-quarter financial report. The chocolate category is deemed the best-performing in the snack sector, and pricing will be closely monitored to maintain market penetration.

  • Tony Loeb
  • 10 Settembre 2024
🏅 Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo wants to keep large multicolored Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower until 2028 for the Los Angeles Games. Despite IOC consent, Parisians, including around 70 living descendants of designer Gustave Eiffel, oppose the change. The Eiffel Tower, attracting about 7 million visitors annually, is the world's most visited monument, standing at 330 meters tall, built for the 1889 Paris Exposition and owned by the city of Paris.
