🏖️ Italians ended their summer vacations spending over €28 billion on trips, stays, meals, and souvenirs, marking a 12% increase compared to 2023. In summer 2024, 38 million Italians vacationed at least a day, up by half a million from 2023. Preferred vacations were traditional 7-day trips (28%), followed by up to two-week stays (25%). The sea remained the top destination, with 32% staying within their region and 29% traveling abroad, mostly to Europe. Hotels and B&Bs were the most popular accommodations, while 13% used a second home, and 19% stayed with relatives or friends.

London Heathrow and Istanbul complete the top five. The big news is China's comeback, with Shanghai and Beijing ranking ninth and tenth. Veneto region topped international tourism flows with a 32% increase, 71% from international tourists. For Venice, the top five spender corridors in July were Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the USA, and France, with American tourists' spending growing by 12.3% annually. European consumers prioritize experiences, accounting for 22% of total spend, surpassing pre-pandemic levels, with experiences and nightlife expenses in Europe hitting a five-year high of 12%.

🏨 Puglia airports reported double-digit growth in August, with international traffic up by 22.1%. Over 1.23 million passengers traveled through Bari, Brindisi, and Foggia, marking a 13 percentage point increase. Bari airport alone saw over 826,000 passengers, a 16.5% rise compared to 2023. In the first eight months, Bari and Brindisi handled 7,121,087 passengers, up 8.1% from the same period in 2023, with 3,818,946 on domestic flights and 3,240,710 (a 16.5% increase) on international flights.

📈 Dana Dunne, CEO of eDreams ODIGEO, announced the 2025 fiscal first quarter results showing a 23% year-on-year profitability increase to €36 million, with Prime subscriber base expanding by 32% to 6.2 million, adding 409,000 new net entries. Revenues grew by 4% to €173.5 million, while free cash flow reached €20.4 million, a 35% rise from €15.2 million the previous year. The adjusted net income soared by 145% to €2.6 million. The company anticipates exceeding €90 million by fiscal year-end, more than doubling the previous year’s figures.

🏕 India's Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat aims to place India among the top ten global tourist destinations within the next five years. Currently ranked 39th among 119 nations, India contributes 7.9% to its economy through tourism, compared to the global average of 10.4%. Although 65% of tourist visits are concentrated in just 9 of India's 28 states, there's growing interest in less-known regions, signaling positive trends for the sector's development.

This approach allows for hourly or daily price changes. Previously, hoteliers set prices in advance with minor variations for weekends, high seasons, or holidays.

📅 In the first half of 2024, AirPlus International recorded a 1.7% increase in business travel spending by European companies compared to the same period in 2023, with a 1.6% rise in the number of tickets booked. Although UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany had minimal impact on business travel, there was a notable shift towards earlier bookings, with flights booked 28.8 days in advance on average, up from 26.3 days in 2023. Female travelers booked 32 days ahead versus 27.2 days for males. Average trip duration slightly decreased from 5.9 to 5.8 days, and one-day trip percentage dipped from 6.8% to 6.7%. Weekend business travel starts rose to 16%. Business class flight bookings increased from 10.8% to 11.1%, and premium economy from 1.8% to 2%, while economy bookings dropped from 87.2% to 86.8%. Long-haul travel assumedly rose, as intra-European travel slightly fell from 52.7% to 52.2%, and flights from Europe to other continents grew from 15.6% to 16.1%. Average economy fare went up by 1.5% to €526, whereas business class average fare decreased by 2.1% to €3,784.

🏨 Occupancy rates for Italian hotels peaked during Ferragosto on August 15 at 85%, and 86% on August 16, 2024. RoomRaccoon analyzed over 1,000 rooms nationwide, revealing a 66% increase compared to the seasonal average from June 1 to August 18. Average Daily Rate (ADR) was €200, €26 above the summer average of €174, while Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) rose by 37% to €159.
