🇦🇬 Antigua and Barbuda saw an unprecedented year in 2024 with 330,281 overnight visitors and 823,955 cruise passengers, surpassing previous records and 2019 figures. Growth was driven by increased stays from the U.S., Europe, UK, Caribbean, and Canada. Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez credited enhanced connectivity, positioning as a regional hub with two international airports, expanded accommodation offerings, investment in human capital, and performance. The destination expanded air links with airlines like American Airlines, Delta, and JetBlue, and welcomed back Condor plus newcomer Sunrise Airways. The cruise sector also experienced a positive year with increased homeporting operations, and further expansion is expected in 2025.

Fto: a gennaio jet fuel ancora sopra i 700 dollari

🛢 Jet fuel prices remained stable for the fourth consecutive month, exceeding $700. In January, the IATA bulletin reported by Fto listed the average jet fuel price per ton at $759.08. There was a 7.90% increase from December, equivalent to $55.60. Compared to January 2023, there was a decrease of $92.50 or -10.86%. The average dollar exchange rate in January was $1.03537 for one euro, marking a -1.19% depreciation of the euro from the previous month.

Vola Air Europa Risultati record sull’Italia

✈ Air Europa in Italy reports an 8% revenue increase in 2024 and a 10% rise in passenger numbers compared to 2023, with a record Ebitda. The leisure segment grew by 50%, and long-haul destinations accounted for 90% of growth. Renato Scaffidi, Air Europa Italia's country manager, anticipates a 7% revenue increase and a 12% passenger increase in 2025, aligning with the 25th anniversary of their Italian operations. The fleet might expand by four aircraft, including three Boeing 787 Dreamliners and one 737 Max. Business travel represents 10% of operations, while leisure continues to grow in the Dominican Republic, Lima, Bogotá, Cancun, and Buenos Aires. The company plans to enhance engagement with travel agencies and tour operators through webinars, workshops, and events. With a 2023 turnover of €2.9 billion, up 6.3% from 2023, the group remains attractive to major market players and considers future partnerships to maximize potential.

🏖️ In 2025, two-thirds of Italians (65%) plan to travel, with 47% changing destinations yearly. Most preferred destinations: the sea (48%), itinerant travels (16%), mountains (12%), and cities of art (7%). A cultural trip is intended by 71% of those surveyed. Only 10% have booked in January 2025, but 74% will book later; Gen Z tends to book last minute (19%) or not at all (8%). Online bookings are at 65%. The average budget is 1,130 euros per person, with trips over 8 nights costing around 1,600 euros, and almost 1,900 euros for extra-European travels. 26% consider Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) options, with 43% of early bookers considering it, especially for high-value packages. Compass' marketing director Luigi Pace notes merchants using HeyLight, Compass' BNPL platform, report sales increase and higher average tickets.

In 2024, the region welcomed over 25 million visitors, an 11% increase from the previous year, including more than 170,000 travelers from Italy. Boris Iraheta, Secretary-General of CATA, highlighted the commitment to the Italian market and offering experiences that align with current travel trends. CATA plans to continue promoting the region through commercial partnerships and media relations into 2025.
