✈ United Airlines will launch flights between Rome and Denver starting May 2, doubling its year-round non-stop services from Rome to New York/Newark to two flights daily until December 2, 2025. The seasonal direct link from Rome to Washington D.C. is now extended year-round, without interruption from January 6 to February 19, 2026. Seasonal flights from Rome to Chicago O'Hare will operate until December 19, 2025, offering more than a 16% increase in seats from Rome for summer 2025.

Flix, tre nomine nella sede di Milano

💸 Flix announces three new promotions in Europe South, all based in Milan. Enkeleda Tushe, with experience in banking and air transport, leads finance, controlling, and accounting for Italy since 2015 and for Romania and Bulgaria since 2021, now promoted to Director Finance Eu South. Sara Venditti, promoted to Senior Expert PR Eu South, managed Italy's communication since 2018 and expanded her role to Romania and Bulgaria in 2021. Filippo Monopoli, joining Flix in 2015 and leading Legal in Italy since 2019, now Senior Expert Legal Counsel Eu South, also covering Spain and Portugal from 2023. The promotions extend their responsibilities across the Balkans including Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Greece, following Andrea Incondi's promotion to Vice President Europe South months prior, affirming Milan as a strategic hub for Flix's decision-making.

Ryanair: ‘Investiamo dove è stata abolita la tassa d’imbarco’

✈ Ryanair's summer 2025 in Italy features new routes but is affected by the increased municipal additionals, which led to limited growth in Rome and Milan since April 1. The airline focuses on Calabria, Abruzzo, and Friuli Venezia Giulia, where the tax was abolished. Calabria will see 40 routes with 13 new ones, 1.8 million passengers, and support for 1,700 jobs. Ryanair's $400 million investment includes €15 million for two new hangars in Lamezia Terme, expected to create over 300 jobs by 2026. Trieste gets 21 routes with 3 new, Pescara 19 routes with 5 new. Further investments are planned for Trapani Airport after Sicily abolished the additional on small airports. Ryanair appeals for the abolition of the municipal additional on all Italian airports, promising a growth plan with 40 additional aircrafts, $4 billion investment, 20 million more passengers, 250 new routes, and support for 1,500+ Ryanair jobs in Italian regions.

💰 Confindustria Alberghi, Assohotel Confesercenti, and Federalberghi appealed to protect the tourism sector and invest for competitiveness. The tourist tax, established in 1910 and reintroduced in 2010, can now be levied by all municipalities. In 2024, Italy's tourism registered a record 458.4 million presences, yielding €1.024 billion. According to Massimo Ferruzzi, the tax revenue is expected to increase by nearly 16% to €1.186 billion in 2025, with 1389 municipalities applying it. However, less than 20% of the tax is used for tourism-related purposes, with some funds diverted to cover municipal expenses. An amendment may allow up to 50% of the tax to be used for current expenses for 2025/2026.

🏖️ KAIA, a new luxury tented resort brand, will debut in Koh Phangan, Thailand, by late 2025. Founded by Bound and Beyond and Cloud Collective, the brand aims for global expansion of outdoor hospitality. KAIA Koh Phangan will feature 31 ocean-view tented suites of 77 square meters each and four 248 square meter tented villas with private pools. The resort will center around a clubhouse with dynamic restaurants, lounge areas, an infinity pool, and a beach club.
