💸 Ancillary revenues from airlines are being scrutinized, with authorities on both sides of the Atlantic taking action, notably against the charge for carry-on luggage. Spain imposed fines on low-cost carriers for charging for carry-on bags, a critical travel component. In Canada, the Transport Ministry has also called airlines to discuss free hand luggage for all travel classes. CarTrawler's report highlighted a record high in ancillary revenue, which allows travelers with lower spending power to utilize base fares, while the 55% who opt for extras help subsidize these tickets.

The increase is attributed to higher tax rates, the tax's implementation in new municipalities, and positive tourism trends, particularly in major art cities. An additional 25 municipalities plan to introduce the tax by 2025.

The Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons Resort in Florida, will offer 216 rooms, dining options, golf, and water sports. Four Seasons Resort Red Sea at Shura Island will feature 149 rooms, six dining venues, a spa, and marine discovery center. Four Seasons Resort and Residences AMAALA at Triple Bay in Saudi Arabia will have 220 rooms focused on sustainability and wellness, while the Four Seasons Hotel Madinah will cater to visitors near the Prophet's Mosque.

🏖️ International tourists reached approximately 1.1 billion in the first nine months of 2024, with the global tourism sector recovering 98% of pre-pandemic levels. The Middle East saw a record +29% growth compared to 2019, Europe and Africa surpassed 2019 levels by +1% and +6% respectively, while the Americas recovered 97%. Asia and the Pacific reached 85% of 2019 levels, up from a 66% recovery in 2023. Up to 60 destinations out of 111 exceeded their 2019 arrival numbers in the first eight to nine months of 2024; Qatar, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Curaçao, Tanzania, Colombia, and Andorra witnessed significant increases. Out of 43 countries with available revenue data, 35 exceeded pre-pandemic values, with Serbia and others observing nearly double the earnings. Key spender countries like Germany, the USA, and France showed a spending increase by +35%, +33%, and +11%, with international tourist arrivals expected to match 2019 levels in 2024.
