📦 Mutti, Europe's market leader in tomato derivatives, announces the launch of the Lion Jar, a new glass jar for ready-made sauces that reduces CO2 emissions by at least 7%. The new design features iconic brand lions and reduces CO2 emissions equivalent to the absorption of about 22,000 trees annually in 2025. By 2026, CO2 savings will exceed 1,100 tonnes per year, akin to almost 13,000 car trips between Rome and Milan. Mutti has been dedicated to 100% Italian tomatoes since 1899, with a 2023 net turnover of €665 million and 565,000 tonnes of tomatoes processed.

🏁 In 2024, Italian walking paths recorded 1.435 million overnight stays, a 6% increase from 2023. Certified Italian walkers totaled 122,000, with the actual number estimated at nearly 191,500 considering non-issuance and non-retrieval of Credentials, marking a 29% annual increase and 24.4% rise over 2023. Despite weather challenges, the average walking trip duration declined to 7.5 days from 9 days in 2023. Walkers primarily came from Northern Italy with top percentages from Lombardy (31%), Emilia Romagna (14%), Veneto (13%), and Piedmont (11%). Motivations varied from nature and inner experiences to physical wellbeing, territory exploration, and social interactions, with 26% walking for religious or spiritual reasons. Around 40% walk for 2-4 weeks, 23% for 3 days to 1 week, 22% for 1-2 months, and 15% for over two months annually. Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, and Lazio house the densest network of paths, and 57% extend their destination stay. A focus on young people 0-35 highlighted the challenge-driven nature of the experience.
