Stocklystics.com's study reveals a forecasted total of $291 billion in fuel costs for the current year, up from $190 billion in 2019. Fuel consumption dropped nearly 50% to $80 billion in 2020. In 2022, the sector's fuel usage rebounded to 77 billion gallons, costing $215 billion, a 13% increase from pre-pandemic levels. Fuel now accounts for 32% of airlines' total expenses.
