  • Tony Loeb
  • 22 Aprile 2025
🏨 Meininger Hotel adapts hospitality with hybrid concept targeting modern explorers and new generations, offering both hotel comforts and hostel social atmosphere. Philippe Pellan, regional director, emphasizes flexibility, quality, and environmental responsibility. With four hotels in Italy—Venice, Rome, two in Milan—the brand considers Italy, Austria, and France as strong markets after Germany and seeks expansion in Naples, Bologna, Genoa, Florence and a second in Rome. Despite no finalized deals, they are open to growth. Meininger confronts personnel shortages, particularly seasonal roles, by promoting job openings and fostering a people-centric company culture with personal and professional growth opportunities. Commitment to DEI, flexible work schedules, and employee well-being through digital tools like OpenUp are key strategies.

Alla scoperta della Caipirinha: storia, ricetta e… Sherlock Holmes

  • Tony Loeb
  • 22 Aprile 2025
🍸 Caipirinha, the symbol of Brazil, was officially declared the country's typical beverage by the government in 2003. Originating around 1856 in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, it was used by sailors mixed with lemon juice to prevent scurvy. In 1918, during the Spanish flu pandemic, it was modified in Piracicaba, São Paulo, with added honey and garlic as a remedy. The recipe evolved, honey was replaced by sugar, garlic removed, and ice included. The Caipirinha's popularity surged in the 1990s and was made official by a decree in 2009 mandating cachaça, lime, and sugar as its ingredients. The International Bartenders Association (IBA) recognized it in 1986. Variants like Caipiroska and Caipirissima have emerged, using different spirits. In Italy, its popularity also boomed in the 1990s.
