Ryanair, il cambio di strategia premia il Marocco
✈ Ryanair ceased some routes to major Spanish cities despite high occupancy rates, focusing on countries like Morocco, with flights under 10% occupancy on some connections. In January, the airline cut over 12 routes and 800,000 seats in Spain due to high airport taxes by Aena, affecting cities like Jerez, Valladolid, Vigo, and Santiago, where the Vigo-Barcelona connection had a 96% occupancy rate. Meanwhile, Ryanair added two weekly flights between Madrid and Lanzarote for Dakhla, Morocco. Occupancy rates for Madrid-Dakhla were at 56.81% in January, while Lanzarote barely surpassed 13%. February saw a combined occupancy drop to 31.94%, and in March, Madrid's traffic rate fell to 44.74%, with Lanzarote at 9.05%. This strategy shift comes as Ryanair plans new investments in Morocco, including a base in Tangier for the 2030 World Cup. Details on subsidies for these deals are not yet public.
