🏖️ Nearly 790 million tourists traveled internationally in the first seven months of 2024, an 11% increase from 2023, reaching 96% of pre-pandemic levels. 🏦 Starting February 1, 2024, Italy's tax-free shopping threshold was lowered from €154.95 to €70.01, resulting in a 43% increase in transactions, a 5% rise in spending, and over 300,000 new shoppers in the €70-€155 bracket. Secondary locations contributed 26% to tax-free shopping, with a notable 53% decrease from the four major cities (Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice). Cities like Catania (72%) and Como (67%) led in transaction growth. Retail and local crafts saw a 54% increase in transactions and a 12% rise in spending, with an average receipt of €111. Leather goods and bags surged by 57% in transactions and 18% in spending, footwear jumped by 79% and 26%, and perfumes and cosmetics by 141% and 4%, respectively.

🍫 Baci Perugina introduces a new flavor, Caramellato alle Mandorle, featuring a gianduia heart with caramelized almond grains, a whole hazelnut, and Luisa dark chocolate with a caramel twist. Produced in San Sisto, Perugia, the chocolates come in Bijou (200g, €7.89) and Tubo Baci (37.5g, €2.79) sizes, joining the brand's permanent range alongside Classico, Latte, Fondente 70%, and Caffè varieties.

🍕 Heinz collaborates with FC Internazionale Milano, launching a limited edition Tomato Ketchup to celebrate Inter's twentieth scudetto, available exclusively at Esselunga with only 10,000 pieces. The design features gold details and two stars symbolizing the scudetti. The partnership, which began in 2022, will continue until the 2024-25 season with Heinz as the Official Sauce Partner of Inter. ✈ Delta Air Lines has extended its flight suspension to Israel until December 31, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Initially, the suspension was until October 31, but conflicts led to a reassessment. American Airlines has halted flights until March 29, 2025, and United Airlines' suspension is indefinite.

🍸 Ve.N.To, the only grappa-based drink on the IBA's official list, was created in 2019 by Samuele Ambrosi of Cloakroom Cocktail Lab, Treviso, and Leonardo Veronesi of RivaBar, Riva del Garda. The IBA included Ve.N.To in its 6th edition codification (2020), a year after its creation. Ingredients: 45 ml white grappa, 22.5 ml fresh lemon juice, 15 ml honey mixed with chamomile, 15 ml chamomile cordial, and optional 10 ml egg white. Variants suggest adding cider, sparkling wine, verjus, or Torchiato di Fregona.

🍷 Azienda Agricola Pighin in Friuli Venezia Giulia connects two distinct terroirs, Grave and Collio, with a three-generation tradition. Founded in 1963 by Luigi, Ercole, and Fernando Pighin in Risano, and later expanding to Capriva. The company manages 150 hectares in Friuli Grave D.O.C. and 30 hectares in Collio, producing wines with distinct personalities. They focus on clone selection, high vine density (4000-6000 vines/ha), and control the entire production chain. Pighin produces approximately one million bottles annually, with 50% being Pinot Grigio and 70% destined for export, mainly to the USA, Canada, and Europe.
