Scomparso Gabriel Escarrer, il fondatore di Meliá Hotels

🏖 Gabriel Escarrer, founder of Meliá Hotels International, passed away at 89. He began his hospitality journey at 21 with a small 60-bed hotel in Porreras, Majorca, in 1935. By 1984, Meliá expanded to 90 hotels following the acquisition of Hotasa. Escarrer initiated international expansion in 1985, reaching Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Turkey, Morocco, and Colombia. In June of the previous year, he handed over the company's presidency to his son, Gabriel Escarrer Jaume, after nearly 70 years of leadership.
