Acampora: “Napoli deve adeguarsi ai nuovi millennial”

  • Tony Loeb
  • 26 Agosto 2024
🏕️ Naples is witnessing a shift in tourist demographics, with 50% of tourists being millennials in 2023, predicted to rise to 70% by 2030. Gianna Mazzarella, head of Tourism at Confindustria Naples, urges a change in tourism models to meet their needs. Gino Acampora of Fiavet Campania notes high prices are pushing millennials away, citing a 500 euro room not justifying a poor experience like the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii. A marketing revamp is needed as the over-65 segment shrinks and millennials book online, often last minute. Despite a 10-15% drop in attendance during Ferragosto compared to 2023, September and October show positive trends, maintaining Naples as a dream destination, especially with direct flights from Capodichino.

  • Tony Loeb
  • 26 Agosto 2024
🛰 The Italian aircraft carrier "Giuseppe Garibaldi," decommissioned after service since 1985, measuring 180 meters in length and 30 meters wide with a displacement of 14,000 tonnes, is the subject of contention between Taranto and Genoa. Taranto aimed to convert it into a floating athletes' village for the Mediterranean Games, but the Navy considered reactivating it as a satellite launch base. Recently, the Centro Studi Bono announced its transformation into a floating museum to be located in Genoa, despite Taranto's hopes to boost tourism.

🏖️ During the summer season of 2024, the tourism sector is witnessing growth, with stocks of related companies benefiting from positive trends. The Italian stock exchange lists mainly small-sized tourism companies, unlike larger international firms found in Europe, such as InterContinental Hotels Group, Ryanair, and Accor. Stoxx Europe 600 saw its best week in three months on Ferragosto, with a 5% gain in the Travel & Tourism sector. Italian company I Grandi Viaggi's stock rose 10% since the beginning of the year, with Banca Akros upgrading its recommendation to "buy" and setting a target price of €1.05 per share. Emma Villas reported a 30% increase in bookings in Sardinia from June to September compared to 2023, aided by last-minute reservations.

Cina, incoming in ripresa ma sotto ai livelli pre Covid

  • Tony Loeb
  • 26 Agosto 2024
🌎 China witnessed a 130% increase in foreign tourists with over 17.25 million entries in the first seven months of 2024, generating revenues above $14 billion. Despite the surge, these figures are lower than pre-pandemic levels of 2019, which saw over 49 million visitors and $131.3 billion in tourism revenue. The entry boost is attributed to visa exemption policies for 54 countries and simplified port visa applications. However, Trip.com noted a 400% jump in trips to China for Q1 2024, driven by visa policies. Concerns over hotel service quality have prompted the Ministry of Commerce to issue guidelines for improving hospitality services.
