🎶 Massimiliano Benedetti, known as "Mizzi," passed away from a heart attack at 58 on March 21, 2023. Mizzi was a co-founder of the historic Banana Republic pub in Rome's Prati district, established in 1993 alongside siblings Alessandro "Brambro" and Valentina "Titti." The pub stood out for its real cuisine and diverse drink selection. In 2007, Paolo Sanna joined as a partner, transforming the pub into a cocktail bar renowned for its "Perfect Italian Style" drinks and food, blending traditional Italian dishes with international influences. The Banana Republic remained open following Mizzi's death, signaling the continuation of its legacy.

🏨 Maria Pia Intini joined Almar Resorts as Managing Director, part of the HNH Hospitality brand, announced by CEO Luca Boccato. Intini, with past roles including Development & Investment Director Europe at citizenM and positions at Colliers International and Cushman & Wakefield, brings extensive experience to the role. Almar Resorts currently operates three luxury resorts: in Veneto, Sardinia, and Sicily. Intini's academic background includes Tourism Economics in Italy and a Master's from Cornell University.

🍺 Birra Peroni appoints Daniele Biondi as the new Director of its Bari production site, a key hub for both the company and local economy. Biondi’s extensive international experience includes roles in Production, Quality, and R&D with notable companies such as Pezzullo Spa, Kraft Foods, Friskies Italia, and Nestlé in Italy, Switzerland, and the USA. As part of the Asahi Group, Birra Peroni aims for a positive planetary impact, with an annual production exceeding 7 million hectoliters of beer, over 2 million for export, and employing more than 800 people across offices, sales force, three breweries – Bari, Rome, Padova – and the Pomezia maltery. Birra Peroni commits over €10 million in investments to innovate the Bari site, emphasizing sustainability and local engagement.

🍷 Mirta Margaglio, sommelier at Casa Perbellini 12 Apostoli in Verona, won the “I MAESTRI DEL CALICE 2025” prize by Forbes Italia for her wine selection expertise. The award ceremony took place at Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan. Casa Perbellini, led by chef Giancarlo Perbellini, holds over 1150 wine labels. Margaglio has honed her skills through education, travel, and varied gastronomic experiences.

🏠 Sebastien Antoine, at 34 and from Quebec with Italian heritage, becomes the youngest general manager in the history of Sofitel Roma Villa Borghese. Inspired by his grandmother's stories and Italian cuisine, Antoine aims to enhance the 'French zest' of Sofitel while fostering an inclusive dynamic vision. He seeks to strengthen the hotel's connection with Rome, offer a cultural breakfast blend, and maintain a business-friendly environment with elegant meeting spaces. Sofitel's commitment to sustainability is marked by the 'Green Keys' recognition for environmental hospitality standards by the Foundation for Environmental Education.

🏠 Castel Monastero, owned by the Marcegaglia family, reopens on the first day of spring near Siena, showcasing its Michelin-starred Restaurant Contrada led by Executive Chef Davide Canella, which will reopen on April 15. The resort's Cantina restaurant will start serving again on March 21. Spa Monasterii, covering 1500 square meters, introduces a new Spa manager, Daniela Rossato, and will feature new wellness programs focused on holistic, botanical, and monastic themes throughout 2025. Guests can also enjoy truffle hunting, wine tasting in Chianti and Val d'Orcia, and olive oil experiences, as well as participating in the famous Palio events in Siena.

🍕 Passione per il Food, a strategic consulting and brokerage agency, showcased Italian culinary excellence at the 26th IFE in London, from March 17-19, 2025, alongside ICE. 💸 Ilenia Ruggeri was appointed as the new General Manager of Sanpellegrino, an industry leader in mineral water and non-alcoholic drinks. With a career beginning in Nestlé Purina in 2002, she brings 20 years of experience within Nestlé Group to her new role, where she'll drive growth in the Italian market and focus on innovative strategies for international brands S.Pellegrino, Acqua Panna, Sanpellegrino beverages, and local brand Levissima. 🛒 Andrea Zocchi appointed as Managing Director of Deliveroo Italia, joining today in Milan to lead the Italian market team. Formerly at McKinsey & Company for 23 years, leading South Europe's consumer sector, Zocchi has also been General Manager at Esselunga, founder and CEO of Digitail (developer of EasyCoop online grocery service), and CEO of Everli. He serves on the boards of Bauli, GoVolt, and Distillerie Fratelli Branca. Deliveroo, established in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski, partners with about 186,000 restaurants and retailers, with over 135,000 riders, operating in 10 markets globally. Zocchi aims to reinforce Deliveroo Italia’s commercial offerings and continue growth by 2025, reaching millions of consumers, over 25,000 restaurant and supermarket partnerships, and thousands of riders.

🏠 Silvia Collepardi appointed as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for Shedir Collection, a luxury hospitality brand with six properties in Rome and Capri. Collepardi, who recently served as Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, brings international leadership experience to expand Shedir's market presence, particularly in the United States.
