🍸 In 2024, the Zombie cocktail celebrates its 90th anniversary, and the Mai Tai turns 80. The Mai Tai, a Tiki mixology emblem, was subject to a paternity dispute between Donn Beach and Trader Vic, with Vic winning in court. The International Bartenders Association (IBA) included the Mai Tai in its official cocktail list in 1987. The Zombie, crafted by Donn Beach in 1934, is known for its three-rum blend. The Dark’n Stormy, owned by Gosling Brothers Ltd., is the only cocktail with a trademarked name, invented post-WWI by a Royal Navy sailor.

The event starts with bio&dynamica & more and includes the prestigious WineHunter Award Platinum ceremony and the introduction of WineHunter Stars. Over 1000 exhibitors, 3000+ wines for tasting, 5400 WineHunter Awards, 39 masterclasses, and 32 showcookings will be part of the festival, culminating in the "Quo Vadis?" Summit with 6 talks. Tickets are available online, with single-day passes and multi-day subscriptions.

The goal of their industrial plan 2025-27 is to reach €70 million in revenue, up from the current €53 million. In 2023, Fas closed with €53 million, a 12.5% increase over 2022's €48.5 million. They foresee a further growth in 2024, aiming to approach €59 million, which is about 11% more than in 2023. They plan to expand geographically, focusing on Northern Europe, France, Poland, Belgium, North America, and Asia.

Polvere di fiori di castagno per dire addio ai solfiti nel vino

🍷 Portuguese researchers from the University of Bragança filed a patent in 2017 for a natural derivative from male chestnut tree flowers (castanea sativa) as a wine preservative, challenging the traditional use of sulfites (SO₂). The product, named "Chestwine," found favor in 2019 with a consultant for wine producers after successful tests. Marketed by startup "Tree Flowers Solutions," Chestwine is now used in the Spanish and Portuguese markets and is undergoing testing in Bordeaux estates. Chestwine's polyphenolic richness is claimed to be at least as effective as SO₂ in inhibiting oxidation and microbial growth without being allergenic or affecting wine taste or color.

Blasfamous: la nuova POP edizione speciale di Birra Baladin

🍺 Mirka Andolfo and Teo Musso collaborated on a special beer edition "BIRRE - POP edizione speciale Blasfamous" to honor Andolfo's new comic. The first collaboration dates back to 2022 when Star Comics asked Andolfo to design a character for an online convention, resulting in a special label featuring Astrid on a Baladin can. In 2024, a limited series of a few hundred collectible cans were released, with Mirka signing 100 cans included in special 4-can kits, exclusively sold on Baladin's eCommerce site (https://shop.baladin.it). The beer "POP" is described as a clear, golden-yellow beverage with citrus and hop aroma, fruity notes, and a refreshing taste profile.

illycaffè protagonista a TriestEspresso Expo con le novità per l'Horeca

☕ Global coffee leader illycaffè will participate in the 11th TriestEspresso Expo from October 24-26 at the Generali Convention Center in Trieste. The illy stand will feature the new ILLY X2.2 professional coffee machine, designed by renowned architect Luca Trazzi, compatible with compostable E.S.E. pods. The Illetta machine, by Antonio Citterio, an evolution of the first professional machine from 1935, will be showcased with a focus on its versatility and personalization through coffee preparations highlighted each day for three illy 100% Arabica roasts: Classico, Intenso, Forte. Additionally, educational meetings hosted by the Università del Caffè will offer insights into the coffee business and recipe creation on October 24-26, with free participation available by local reservation.
