Heinz presenta tre novità: Ketchup Pickle, Mayo Spicy e Ketchup Zero

🍍 Heinz introduced three new sauces: Ketchup Pickle, Mayo Spicy, and Ketchup Zero 220 ml, during their Press Day in Milan. Ketchup Pickle, popular in the UK, has no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Mayo Spicy offers a spicy Sriracha twist, aligning with the 55% of global consumers drawn to new flavors (Kantar Global Monitor, 2022). Ketchup Zero in a 220 ml format was named Product of the Year 2024. Heinz's national turnover reached €300 million in 2022, employing about 200 people in Italy. Heinz aims for 100% sustainable ketchup tomatoes and fully recyclable packaging by 2025.

The 2024 initiative targets recent graduates and experienced production line workers to address skill shortages, particularly in bottling line operations. Successful participants may be permanently hired. President Sandro Bottega anticipates extending the program in 2025 to include commercial roles.

🛑 In Italy, the Carabinieri Command for Health Protection with the Ministry of Health conducted nationwide school cafeteria inspections at the start of the new school year. Over 700 inspections revealed irregularities in nearly 1 in 4 cafeterias, resulting in 225 administrative or criminal violations, fines totaling €130,000, the arrest of 5 operators, and the seizure of 350 kg of food worth approximately €5M. Violations included hygiene issues, unmet quality/quantity standards, and lack of food traceability.

🍫 In Italy, chocolate consumption increased by 38% in the last year with Glovo app data showing a 77% rise in supermarket chocolate orders. Breakfast chocolate treats jumped by 65% and evening orders by 63%. Top favorites included chocolate gelato (851,000 units), chocolate milkshakes (94,000), and Nutella muffins (71,000). Sales of sugar-free chocolate soared by 175%, vegan options by 39%, high-protein by 58%, and dark chocolate by 70%. Nut-enhanced chocolates spiked dramatically: with nuts by 2,304%, almonds by 285%, and hazelnuts by 67%. Milan leads in chocolate orders, with Naples' orders growing by 241%. 91% of Italians snack daily, with 98% of 18-24-year-olds favoring sweet snacks.

The U.S. is Italy's top customer, accounting for 29% of volume and 31% of revenue. EVOLIO Expo, a new international B2B fair, will be held from January 30 to February 1, 2025, at Fiera del Levante, aiming to foster exchange opportunities for Italian olive companies with key importers. Italy is renowned for high-quality olive oil with over 500 olive genotypes and 42 PDO and 8 PGI extra virgin olive oils.
