Fine Wines: si chiude un 2024 dominato dall’incertezza

🍷 The fine wine market in 2024 experienced uncertainty with declining prices, low risk-taking, and cautious participants. Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 dropped by 9.2%, while Fine Wine 50 and Fine Wine 1000 both decreased by 11.1%. The worst performers were Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 and 1000, underperforming all major stock markets and gold, especially after Trump's reelection. Italian wines, particularly from Tuscany, saw increased trade volume by 17.6%, volume by 17.3%, and value by 9.8%, with Tuscany's commercial value up 16.1%.

Addio a Vincenzo Santoro, maestro della pasticceria milanese

🍰 Vincenzo Santoro, founder of Pasticceria Martesana, passed away at 72 in Milan. Born in 1952, he moved to Milan during the economic boom and opened his pastry shop in 1966. His shop, especially known for panettone, became a reference for quality. Recognized internationally, Santoro received the "Ai Migliori Pasticcieri del Mondo" award in 2023 from Iginio Massari. His protégé Davide Comaschi won the World Chocolate Masters in 2013. Despite new partners in 2021, Santoro's legacy continues through multiple outlets in Milan and Como.

Dicembre in positivo: consumi e regali natalizi in aumento per i dati Confcommercio

💸 December's consumer spending in Italy shows a positive trend with "Black Friday" sales reaching €4.1 billion, up €100 million from the previous year. The average pro capita spending was between €220 and €230. Confcommercio’s Studies Office predicts a rosy holiday season with a significant rise in 13th-month pay, from €50.7 billion in 2023 to €54.5 billion in 2024, with €45 billion directed towards consumer spending — an increase from last year's €41.3 billion. Total family expenditure for December is expected to be €47.5 billion compared to last year's €43.9 billion, partly due to tax cuts and the introduction of the "Christmas bonus". Average family spending in December is set to grow by €118, from €1,788 to €1,906 with gift spending rising from €186 to €207 per family, increasing overall gift expenses from €8.1 billion to €9.8 billion. Consumer sentiment is also up, with 79.9% planning to give Christmas presents, compared to 73.2% previously.
