SANA Food 2025: torna l'appuntamento imperdibile a BolognaFiere

🍽 SANA Food 2025, a key exhibition for healthy eating, will run from 23-25 February 2025 at BolognaFiere, Italy. Organized by BolognaFiere with partners such as FederBio and Demeter, this event targets Horeca professionals and specialized retailers. The Italian market reached €100 billion in 2024, with a 1.5% increase in breakfast consumption, 1% in dinner, and a 15.3% growth in ready-to-eat segment since 2017. Approximately 250 exhibitors, 15% international, will showcase organic, vegan, and certified supply chain products, accompanied by educational workshops and networking opportunities. Concurrently, the fourth edition of Slow Wine Fair will highlight sustainable wine excellence.

Fabbri promuove ''SI SOSTIENE in carcere'', il corso di gelateria per il reinserimento delle detenute

🍨 The "Corso base di gelateria artigianale" took place at Casa Circondariale "Verziano" in Brescia, involving 8 female inmates. This initiative is part of the Soroptimist International d'Italia's “SI SOSTIENE in carcere” project, in collaboration with Fabbri 1905, aimed at reintegrating women into society with professional skills. In 2025, the course will reach 8 Italian women's prisons, with the support of 15 Soroptimist Clubs, and will graduate about 80 inmates. Courses are scheduled from February to October, across cities like Vercelli, Modena, Verona, Pisa, Torino, Firenze, and Forlì. Each participant receives a recognized diploma, enhancing their employment prospects in artisanal gelato making.

Slow Wine Fair: inizia il conto alla rovescia per la fiera vitivinicola

The 2025 edition aims for more sustainable viticulture, promoting lighter glass bottles and targeting a 69% showcase of organic and biodynamic wines, up from 47% previously. The fair will feature 300 foreign buyers and 130 selected delegates by ICE, coinciding with SANA Food for a combined experience. Italy's organic viticulture covers 23% of the national vineyard area, with 40% in Tuscany and 36% in Sicily, involving nearly 30,000 operators. In 2023, organic wine sales in Italy hit €57.5 million, up 6.5%.

Incendio nello stabilimento Inalca di Reggio Emilia: nessun ferito, avviate le indagini

🔥 In Reggio Emilia, an overnight fire occurred at the Inalca facility on via Due Canali 13. No injuries were reported as safety systems functioned effectively, allowing the fire alarm and firefighter response to prevent the spread of flames. The fire's cause is under investigation. The plant processed fresh meats for third parties, and production is being rescheduled across other group facilities to ensure operational continuity. Around 180 employees of the facility are to be protected by social safety nets. No environmental contamination or risks have been reported.

La Pizza Napoletana diventa oggetto di studio accademico

🍕 Paolo Masi, professor at the University of Naples Federico II, introduced a 4-year study conducted by southern Italian universities and the CNR, presented in a book titled "L'arte del pizzaiuolo napoletano tra tradizione e innovazione". The study, which analyzed everything from production protocols to environmental impact, found that wood-fired ovens produce fewer CO2 emissions than electric ones. The pizza industry in Italy generates €15 billion annually, with 8 million pizzas consumed daily, 40,000 pizzerias employing 100,000 permanent workers, doubling on weekends, and the associated consumption of 200 million kg of flour, 225 million kg of mozzarella, 60 million liters of oil, and 260 million kg of tomatoes.

The Arena del Gusto will focus on Sicilian tradition and quality culinary offerings.

METRO Italia chiude l’anno fiscale 2023 & 2024 con un fatturato record

📊 METRO Italia closed fiscal year 2023/2024 with a record turnover of €2 billion, a 2.1% increase from the previous year. The company operates in 16 Italian regions with 48 stores, 2 FSD deposits, and approximately 3,800 employees. Globally, METRO AG reached €31 billion in turnover, up 1.6%. Cash&Carry sales were €1.5 billion (76% of total sales), while FSD turnover jumped to €466 million, a 7.3% increase. Online Market sales skyrocketed by 67% to €21 million. METRO Italia's assortment includes around 30,000 references, with 7,000 local food products and 3,500 "Own Brand" items. Upcoming in 2024-2025, METRO Italia plans to open new facilities in Olbia and Pontedera and has partnered with A2A for 156 electric vehicle charging points. The company has streamlined operations in Trentino-Alto-Adige and announced the closure of stores in Rimini and Pozzuoli due to poor performance.
