Owned by Gianparide Scarlino and Alfonso Troiano, Putea was the only regional restaurant honored among 100 by a jury of experts. It was recognized in the Brunello category, a follow-up to the successful "Brunello in Borgo" initiative. Dazi Usa: Cia, allarme rosso per export agroalimentare

🍷 The Trump administration's tariffs, effective April 2, could severely impact Italian exports to the U.S., especially from regions like Sardinia and Tuscany. The U.S. is the second-largest market for Italian food and wine, with exports growing by 158% over ten years, reaching €7.8 billion in 2024. Italian cider exports, 72% of which go to the U.S., and Pecorino Romano cheese, with 57% exported there, are particularly vulnerable. The U.S. also accounts for 12% of Italy's global agri-food exports, topping EU countries. Italian wines, olive oil, and spirits could face significant market losses due to these tariffs. Sardegna's agri-food exports to the U.S. amount to 49%, while Toscana's is at 28%, with olive oil and wines being the most exposed.

Consumi alimentari in Italia: trend, preferenze e variazioni di spesa

📖 In Italy, 2024 saw a slowdown in agro-food spending growth to +0.9% after a high increase of +8.1% in 2023. Supermarkets led with a 40% share and a revenue increase of +2.5%, while discount stores saw a +1.5% rise after a +10% hike previously. Spending at "liberi servizi" and traditional retail dropped by -3.9% and -4.8%, respectively. Expenditure on animal-origin proteins fell slightly, except for eggs (+2.6%). Vegetable oil spending soared by +15.6%, with fresh vegetables (+2.2%) and fruit (+2.9%) also growing. Families without children and single seniors are on the rise, with mature family units increasing spending and volumes. Pre-family units decreased spending by -3.4%.

🍹 Hannette Lee, a 38-year-old Korean, launched Peracotà, a kombucha cocktail with passion fruit and karkadè, two weeks ago. She opened Bari's first Korean bar with kitchen in 2022. Peracotà evolved from a pear, cinnamon, ginger, and pepper flavored soda created in 2021, securing third place in the World Class contest. Peracotà, with 7% ABV, has a shelf life of about six months and is used in cocktails for freshness and complexity. It appeals primarily to health-conscious women and is produced in small batches.

The previous edition attracted 35,800 professional visitors, 180 exhibitors, and 300 brands over three days. The fair featured 30 events, including competitions, masterclasses, and conferences, and was covered by 110 accredited journalists. The 2025 edition aims to surpass expectations with Tuttopizza International, enhancing its global role. The event will take place at the Mostra d'Oltremare in Naples and concurrently at SIAL Shanghai, with a special exhibition area. New features include a Buyer Lounge, Area Masterclass, Pizza Show, and Gluten-Free Pizza area. The event will also celebrate Naples's 2,500-year anniversary in 2025.

Dal successo di Cava Restaurant nasce Cava Bar a Sharm el Sheikh

🍷 Cava Restaurant, after success in Sicily and Tuscany, launched in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in November 2024 and in Tulum, Mexico with VR Club Hotels & Resorts. Manuel Dallori, the entrepreneur behind The Beach Luxury Club, plans to open the first Cava Bar in Sharm el Sheikh by Easter 2025, with a 4-6 months testing phase before expanding to other locations. The Cava Bar will offer Italian-style coffee, artisanal products, and gelato, catering H24 with breakfast, lunch, and late-night DJ sets and live music. American tourists make up 60-70% of visitors in Tulum, a luxury eco-chic and boho destination. Cava's menu varies by location with an Italian and international soul. The Beach Luxury Club, opened since 2018, will have new locations in Tuscany and Mexico in spring '24. Dallori, with over 25 years of experience and currently Corporate Entertainment Director at the Domina group, emphasizes Cava's detailed focus on design, service, and Italian cuisine tradition with a modern twist.
