🍺 Sam Ross created the Paper Plane cocktail in 2007 for the Violet Hour in Chicago. Originally inspired by the Last Word, the cocktail combines 30 ml each of bourbon, Aperol, Amaro Nonino, and fresh lemon juice. Ross named it after the 2007 hit "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. In 2020, the International Bartenders Association added it to their official cocktail list. Sam Ross co-owns Attaboy in New York, opened in 2013.
