Spirits & Colori: masterclass e degustazioni in Italia con whisky d'eccellenza

🥃 Spirits & Colori organizes a national itinerant whisky event with ambassadors Fergus Simpson and Michele Reina presenting global whisky excellences. Duncan Taylor, founded in Glasgow in 1938, owns whiskies dating back to 1864 and has over 4,500 casks after being acquired by Euan Shand. Octave Cask, a 50-liter barrel, yields about 70 unique bottles per batch. Masterclass tasting dates in Italy include locations in Viterbo, Florence, Villafranca di Verona, Noventa di Piave, and Treviso from October 2-7, 2024. Ross & Squibb Distillery, known for American Rye and Bourbon, was founded in 1809 and acquired by George Remus in 1921. Products include Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey aged 5/6 years, Master Crafted Rye 5 Years, Bottled in Bond Straight Rye Whiskey, and Straight Rye Whiskey Barrel Proof aged 7 years, with alcohol volumes ranging from 47% to 58.5%. Additional masterclass dates with Michele Reina span from September 23 to October 24, 2024, in various Italian cities.

🍕 Ferrari Giovanni Industria Casearia, a dairy company established in 1823, is the official partner for the Club des Chefs des Chefs' annual tour, taking place in Italy from September 29 to October 5, 2023. The Club, founded in 1977, is an elite international culinary organization. The visiting delegation will explore the company's Bedonia facility and the Chiaravalle Abbey. On October 3, chefs will observe the production of Parmigiano Reggiano Prodotto di Montagna DOP, a cheese awarded at the ICDA, made with milk from the Val di Ceno and Alta Val Taro mountains. The next day, October 4, features a visit to Chiaravalle Abbey, the origin site of Grana Padano cheese from 1135, and a tasting of an over 20-months aged variant that received five gold and one bronze medals at the International Cheese Award between 2019 and 2024. Ferrari's products will also shine during the chefs' journey and at the Francesca Rava Foundation's gala dinner on October 5.

Mattia Cipriani won the competition with his cocktail "El Diablo Cojuelo" and was awarded a Study Trip to Barcelona, a Ron Relicario Supremo gift box, and a collaboration with Mercanti di Spirits. Noemi Desiree Amato and Dylan Lewis Gosso placed second and third, winning a Relicario Peated Finish box and a Relicario Vermouth Finish box, respectively. All other participants received a Ron Relicario Superior box.

The competition, held at Spazio Mercanti – Barman Online, had 8 finalists who created original cocktails using one of four Ron Relicario as the base. The project analyzes 420 coffee samples from over 30 Arabica varieties using advanced biochemical analysis and bioinformatics approaches, aiming to correlate chemical properties with sensory evaluations like bitterness, acidity, body, and sweetness. The long-term goal is to enhance specialty coffee traceability and expand the partnership to major coffee-producing countries.
