Refurbished Nespresso machines have a two-year warranty, offering reduced cost and environmental footprint. In 2023, Nespresso operates in 93 markets, has 14,000 employees, and manages 791 retail boutiques.

🍞 Antico Forno della Romagna (AFR), an Italian leader in frozen bakery products, acquired 100% of Grano Vivo, specializing in long-life frozen bakery items. The acquisition, supported by Orienta Partners and Fondo Agroalimentare Italiano I, enhances AFR's long-life product range and sandwich bread sector presence. Ignazio and Marta Omodeo Zorini of Grano Vivo will continue collaborating with AFR. AFR aims to reach a €40 million turnover by 2024, focusing on innovation and quality, with expansion plans including increased production capacity and talent development.

With a 30-year career at Unilever, he brings extensive FMCG experience, leading Froneri's Italian companies and production sites in Ferentino and Terni. He succeeds Luca Regano, now Global Chief Marketing Officer. Cipollone previously managed business in Nordic countries and Southern Europe. Froneri, formed in 2016 from a Nestlé and R&R joint venture, is the world's second-largest packaged ice cream producer, operating in 25 countries with around 13,500 employees.

📊 In 2024, a webinar by GS1 Italy and Circana revealed consumer trends and market dynamics. The year started with a 1.8% rise in sales volumes and a 2.3% increase in value. Inflation slowed to 0.3%, with promotional activity in retail channels up by 1.7 percentage points. Wellness products soared by 33.7% in volume and 44.7% in value compared to 2019. Private labels reached a 30.1% market share, with first-price products climbing to 20.1%. Retail assortments expanded by 0.8% annually to 9,428 references on average, and shelf efficiency improved, with out-of-stock rates reducing from 3.6% to 3.5% and lost sales falling to 4.8%.

In the first 6 months of 2024, card usage in Italy increased by 8.6% annually to €223 billion. Dojo's European expansion includes a launch in Spain earlier in the year and the establishment of a European HQ in Dublin, Ireland. In the financial year ending March 31, 2024, it recorded record revenues of €367 million, a 28% increase from the previous year's €285 million. Dojo processed over 2.2 billion transactions worth €50 billion in card volumes in the UK and Ireland in 2023. The Italian headquarters is located in Milan, led by Country Manager Antonio Di Berardino, with over 150,000 businesses served in the UK, Ireland, and Spain.
