The Italian Espresso Institute, promoting high-quality coffee culture for 27 years, acknowledges these consumer preferences, which are key to certification and the evolving café experience.

Angelucci, born in 1972, with 20 years of experience at Barilla and as the commercial director for Pladis Global in Southern Europe, will report directly to President Zefferino Monini. Despite economic challenges, Monini closed 2023 with a turnover of €195 million, indicating growth and strong international performance.

Sigep World: attesa per l'edizione più internazionale di sempre

🎉 SIGEP World – The World Expo for Foodservice Excellence, featuring exhibitors from 33 countries including Italy, Germany, Spain, China, France, Turkey, Belgium, Poland and the USA, will take place from January 18-22 at Fiera di Rimini. Saudi Arabia is the Guest Country, highlighting its rapidly expanding market and demand for hospitality innovation. SIGEP World 2025 will host over 40 international events with 60 speakers, and has attracted over 520 buyers from 79 countries through the Top Buyers' Program, while more than 2,500 European buyers have been targeted with the Premium Program. Key participants include 34% from chains and 28% from artisanal producers and labs; additionally, 20% importers, 14% distributors and wholesalers, and 4% from the retail and collective catering sectors.

Casa Optima presenta il primo Bilancio di Sostenibilità: risultati e obiettivi per il futuro

🌱 Casa Optima, an Italian artisan gelato and high-quality pastry leader, released its first Sustainability Report for 2021-2023, detailing achievements and future strategies aligned with the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In 2023, the company, with markets in over 150 countries, 5 production facilities (3 in Italy, 1 in Brazil, and 1 in France), serving 30,000+ customers and employing 1000+ staff, reduced greenhouse gas emissions by over 45% compared to 2021 and achieved a 7% reduction in waste normalized on produced kg from 2022 with 99% of waste being recycled. Energy consumption also dropped by 7% per produced kg. Approximately 20,000 tonnes of raw materials were sourced in 2023, 98% from the EU, with 2/3 from Italy. The company dedicated 20.4 hours to employee training on average in 2023, made 31 permanent hires, and confirmed 11 out of 20 internships. Casa Optima aims for carbon neutrality by 2030, with a 5% annual reduction in energy consumption, 75% of its fleet to be electric or hybrid, and planting 5,500 trees by 2025 to absorb an estimated 1500 tonnes of CO₂ over ten years.

Visits to premises remained stable in September, with Saturdays and the hours around aperitivo and after-dinner being the busiest. Beer, aperitif drinks, wine, and non-alcoholic hot beverages are popular but cocktail orders declined while Ready To Drink (RTD) options gain popularity. Over half of consumers say product quality makes a drink "premium," while expert preparation and a venue's unique offerings are also important factors. 48% prefer premium drinks in night bars, 43% in restaurants, and they're more inclined to spend on high-quality beverages during special occasions (46%) and aperitifs (31%). Valeria Bosisio, CGA by NIQ's Client Success & Insights Manager Italy, emphasizes that premiumization is not just about price but creating exceptional experiences that justify consumer investment, and suggests an opportunity for innovative offerings to increase sales.
