🍪 Lesaffre Italia and Richemont Club Italia renewed their strategic partnership for professional baking and pastry training. Lesaffre, part of a French group in 50 countries with 80 production sites, 11,000 employees, and €3 billion revenue, offers continuous quality education. On March 24, an event titled "Il lievito, il vero protagonista della fermentazione" will be hosted at Lesaffre's Baking Center™. L'hirondelle 1895, a new yeast specific for biga, long fermentations, and pizza, was launched in January 2025 during the 130th anniversary of the L'hirondelle range, available in 2.5 kg resealable packs with five 500g blocks.

Deliveroo Italia: Andrea Zocchi assume il ruolo di Managing Director

🛒 Andrea Zocchi appointed as Managing Director of Deliveroo Italia, joining today in Milan to lead the Italian market team. Formerly at McKinsey & Company for 23 years, leading South Europe's consumer sector, Zocchi has also been General Manager at Esselunga, founder and CEO of Digitail (developer of EasyCoop online grocery service), and CEO of Everli. He serves on the boards of Bauli, GoVolt, and Distillerie Fratelli Branca. Deliveroo, established in 2013 by William Shu and Greg Orlowski, partners with about 186,000 restaurants and retailers, with over 135,000 riders, operating in 10 markets globally. Zocchi aims to reinforce Deliveroo Italia’s commercial offerings and continue growth by 2025, reaching millions of consumers, over 25,000 restaurant and supermarket partnerships, and thousands of riders.

Trieste capitale dell'oro verde: numeri da record per la XVII edizione di Olio Capitale

🌽 "Olio Capitale," the extravirgin olive oil fair in Trieste, concluded on March 16 with a record +18% increase in attendance, reaching nearly 14,200 visitors compared to 12,000 in 2024. With 212 exhibitors, the event showcased a variety of olive oils and featured an international presence with visitors from over 20 countries. The International OLIO CAPITALE Competition had 176 oils in contest, with winners from Tuscany, Puglia, and Spain across different fruity categories. The fair included innovative conferences on health benefits of olive oil and technological advances in the olive oil sector. CocktOIL, the off-fair cocktail event, saw Angelica Puntini from Local win, while "L'olio nel Piatto" promoted olive oil in local cuisines. Antonio Paoletti, president of the Venice Giulia Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the fair's focus on quality and international outreach.

🍞 More than 15% of sandwiches produced in Europe are wasted, with 5 million tons of bread trashed annually, worth €12.5 billion. Consumption habits demanding the freshest bread contribute to this waste. In the U.S., over 500,000 tons of excess bakery products are produced every year. Italy's Regardia, since 1981, has been repurposing these food products for animal feed and bioenergy, with wasted bakery goods containing 8-15% crude protein, 5-10% fat, and over 40% starch.

Caffo 1915 conferma la presenza a ProWein: focus sul mercato tedesco

🍻 From March 16-18, Düsseldorf hosts ProWein, celebrating its 30th anniversary, with Gruppo Caffo 1915 showcasing at Stand 5B 36. Germany is a strategic market for Caffo, with Vecchio Amaro del Capo's market share steadily increasing. Caffo Deutschland closed 2024 with growth despite market challenges, achieving a +16.3% increase in GDO, against a general market decline of -5.2% (Circana data). The Gruppo will feature Ready to Serve cocktails and debut Calabräu's craft beers, including MountLion and Birra del Monaco Calabrese, at ProWein.
