🏖️ Forrester Research predicts the global travel market will grow at a 6% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2024 to 2028, outpacing the world economy. Global travel spending is projected to exceed 2019 levels, reaching over $2 trillion in 2024. The United States and Europe drive this growth, aided by rising middle classes in India, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. International travel is expected to return to pre-pandemic levels by 2025, while the growth of online travel agencies (OTAs) is highlighted, with seven major OTAs accounting for nearly 46% of global online travel spending in 2024, up from 40% in 2022. The United Kingdom leads in online travel expenditure with 71%, followed by China and Australia. In key markets, travel spending accounts for up to 6.5% and 6.2% of total household consumption in the UK and the US/Germany, respectively. The U.S. remains the largest travel market, with spending predicted to reach $650 billion by 2028, up from $566 billion. The travel market in China is expected to recover to 99% of pre-pandemic levels by 2026, marking a significant rebound, while the UK is the second-largest European travel market, projected at $77 billion in 2024.

  • 30 Settembre 2024
✈ Global air transport is set for a "remarkable" recovery with demand measured in revenue passenger kilometers (Rpk) poised to exceed 2019 totals. Already exceeding pre-pandemic levels in the first quarter of 2023, Rpk is predicted to reach 11.4 trillion by 2030, a 136% jump from 2019. North America forecasts a 3% demand increase by 2030, potentially adding $4 billion in revenue, while Europe expects a 1% rise, yielding over $1 billion in new revenue. Southern European countries like Turkey, Spain, and Italy will lead this growth. Asia's intraregional demand is projected to grow by 55% from 2019 to 2030, despite a downward revision by 5% due to subpar economic performance, especially in Northeast Asia and China's domestic flights.
