Part of the PacTS4ALL project, with Federturismo as a key partner, it aligns with the European Skills Agenda by the EU Commission. The webinar, featuring experts and industry representatives, belongs to the Tourism Talks series continuing into 2025, addressing technological impacts, AI innovations, and new training models for the twin transition. Osservatorio Altagamma, Nervini (Global Blue): “In Italia la spesa Tax Free del lusso al +14%, spinta dagli shopper Usa”

🏆 In Italy, Tax Free spending by international luxury shoppers increased by 14% compared to 2023. American tourists lead the growth (26% of luxury Tax Free volumes), followed by Chinese (12%), Gulf countries (11%), and Asia (11%). Americans increased their spending by 8%, Chinese by 42%, and Arab tourists by 12%. On average, non-EU tourists spent €2,886 on luxury goods from January to October 2024. The recovery rate of Chinese Tax Free spending is 62%, with an average spend of €4,048, second only to Arab shoppers at €4,234. Global Blue, a leader in Tax Free Shopping, provided the data during the Altagamma Observatory event. ????

Wef/UNWTO/WTTC/Cgil: per superare il gender gap sono necessari 130 anni

🚧 In the hospitality sector, women comprise 61% of the workforce and 64% in travel agencies and tour operators. Despite this, a woman earns 14.7% less than a man for the same roles. Only 7% of CEO positions in the leisure industry are held by women, 22% in top management, and 33% in senior management. Since 2019, there has been a +4% increase in female CEOs and +17% in managerial roles since 2007. For hotel managers, the increase is only +2%, with no change in female CEOs. Women in tourism management receive only 15% of media mentions. Closing gender gaps could raise GDP per capita by 20% and create nearly 300 million jobs by 2035. The average pension for men is about 60% higher than for women, with figures at €1,430 vs €884 in 2022.

Enav: record storico di traffico aereo sull’Italia nei primi 9 mesi del 2024

📍 Enav reports a historic high in air traffic over Italy in the first 9 months of 2024, driven by international flights, with route and terminal traffic up by 10.8% and 10.7% in service units from 2023. Consolidated revenue for the period totaled €770.5 million, a 4.1% increase from 2023; net profit was €89.6 million, up 3.8%; EBITDA reached €222.8 million, a 1.3% increase; and free cash flow improved significantly to €130.6 million compared to €96.6 million in 2023. Italy outperforms major European nations with a 10.8% increase in route service units, against an average of 7.0% in France, Germany, Britain, and Spain, and is expected to close 2024 with a double-digit increase in flights from the previous year. SiteMinder: il profilo dei nuovi viaggiatori del 2025

📌 Secondo il Changing Traveller Report 2025 di SiteMinder, nel 2025 il 72% dei viaggiatori globali prevede di viaggiare all'estero, con un aumento dal 65% dell'anno precedente. In Italia, il 19% mira a destinazioni internazionali, il 56% a viaggi sia nazionali che internazionali, e il 25% sceglie l'Italia, con la Sicilia (21%) e la Toscana (18%) come mete domestiche principali. Gli italiani preferiscono la Spagna (17%), Francia (14%), e gli USA (6%) per viaggi esteri. Il 35% dei viaggiatori italiani lavorerà durante il viaggio, meno della media globale del 41%, ma in aumento dal 29% del 2024. Il 55% degli italiani opta per camere standard e il 62% spenderà la stessa somma per alloggio dell'anno precedente, mentre il 42% pagherebbe fino al 10% in più per un alloggio eco-sostenibile. Global Wellness Institute: mercato del turismo benessere dovrebbe raddoppiare entro il 2027

🏠 Global Wellness Institute reports wellness tourism market plummeted from $720 billion in 2019 to $351 billion in 2020 due to the pandemic. However, from 2020 to 2022, it saw a 36% annual increase in spending and a 30% increase in trips—outpacing overall travel and tourism spending growth of 23.8% and trip growth of 28.4%. Forecasts suggest the market will more than double from 2022 to 2027, reaching $868 billion in 2023 and predicted $1 trillion this year. The global wellness tourism market is expected to grow at a 7.50% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2024 to 2031. In Europe, with over 30% of the global market share, a 6.0% CAGR is projected for the same period.

🏖 In August, Italy's tourism trade balance showed a €2.8 billion surplus, slightly higher than August 2023. Foreign travelers spent €7.5 billion, up 3.1%, while Italians spent €4.7 billion abroad, increasing by 3%. Over the three months ending in August 2024, both inbound and outbound travel transactions rose by 3.5% and 4.7%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2023. The growth is attributed to more travelers but reduced per-capita spending. EU visitors' spending in Italy surged by 6%, and Italian spending abroad grew nearly 5% for both EU and non-EU destinations.

📈 Italian businesses planned over 427,000 hires in November and approximately 1.3 million for the November-January quarter, with 47.9% difficulty finding specialized profiles. Service sector leads with about 307,000 in November and 908,000 for the quarter, a year-on-year increase of 2.5% and 0.6%, respectively. Tourism and commerce sectors expect 82,000 and 72,000 hires. Industrial sector's outlook is uncertain, seeking 121,000 workers in November and 360,000 for the quarter, down 8% from November 2023 and 9.9% for the quarter. Manufacturing plans about 78,000 hires in November (down 9.9% year-on-year) and 239,000 for the quarter (down 12.5%), while construction seeks over 43,000 in November and 122,000 for the quarter (both down 4.3%).
